Why You Should Study with A Pomodoro Timer
Studying is hard! Even if you’re interested in the subject, distractions always creep in. Whether it’s talking with friends, browsing the internet or watching non-stop cat videos. Maintaining focus is difficult.
So, if you’ve tried everything but keep getting distracted, try the Pomodoro technique.
1. It’s Easy

Let’s face it – most students don’t have the time, money, or energy to put towards fancy study resources. But, the Pomodoro method only requires a timer and a to-do list. Meaning, even broke students in cramped dorm rooms can use it.
Simply pick the task you want to complete. Set the timer for exactly 25 minutes. Work until the timer rings. Then allow yourself a 5-minute (timed) break.
Complete 4 repetitions of these steps to reward yourself with a longer break of 15- 30 minutes.
Sounds easy, right? Not only is it just that simple but it’s completely free and accessible to all!
2. Holds You Accountable

The technique requires you to write down what you want to get done. Meaning, you’ll have to set a clear goal.
Identifying a goal helps break down large projects into more manageable tasks.
These smaller tasks can also make projects seem less daunting. And, the less intimidating a task seems the more likely you are to do it!
3. Motivates You

This technique requires you to write down a task. As such, you’ll have a record of all the work you’ve done.
Seeing everything you’ve accomplished for a project is inspiring. And having it outlined in such a clear way can motivate you to push harder.
Plus, the 25-minute timer puts pressure on you to speed-through tasks to get it done.
4. Prevents Burn-Out

Studying for hours is exhausting! Plus, most students can’t retain information once they start to feel burnt out. Sitting to concentrate also takes a toll on a person’s back, eyes, shoulders, and mentality.
But, with the Pomodoro technique, you’ll be forced to get up and walk around. This allows you to stretch your legs, rest your eyes, eat, or do whatever else you want to do!
After all, the better you feel (physically and mentally) the more you’ll get done.
5. Eliminates Distractions

We’re surrounded by distractions all the time (hello, Netflix). Without structure, falling victim to them is easy.
That’s why this technique uses a strict timer. This causes you to be laser-focused on the task for 25 minutes.
Because of this focus, you’re more likely to ignore any disturbances (internal or external). It also brings awareness to how much time you’re actually working vs. procrastinating.
Ultimately, the Pomodoro technique is the ideal study method for students. It’s cheap, easy, and proven effective – so give it a try today!
Also, all the videos in the Wizeprep Study Pass strive to be very short (5-7 mins), so you can set your Pomodoro timer, watch a few short videos, and then give yourself a break.
