About Henry X
Welcome to WizePrep!
My name is Henry Xie, and I’m excited to meet you! I’m a medical student at the University of Toronto with a passion for teaching and mentorship. Outside of academics, I enjoy playing hockey, cooking for local shelters, camping and hiking, and spending time with my family and pets :)
My Education and Credentials
I am pursuing my Doctor of Medicine (MD) at the University of Toronto, and I am in my 2nd year. Before medical school, I studied Anatomy and Cell Biology at McGill University. I scored 522 on the MCAT (130/130/131/131), placing me among the top performers of this exam. Alongside my studies, I have been deeply involved in research, spanning topics such as adolescent genetics and mental illness, neuroanatomy and brain development, and sleep and stroke neurology. My work has included poster presentations, several publications, and collaborations across multiple labs.
My Teaching Background
I have directly taught and mentored hundreds students through private tutoring, weekend courses, and structured mentorship. Additionally, at McGill, I created comprehensive review resources and practice questions for several courses, such as physiology, biology, immunology, and anatomy, indirectly helping hundreds of other students. Through Bridge to Med, a mentorship program I founded at UofT, I have supported dozens of equity-deserving pre-medical students in interview preparation and academic success. I’ve also volunteered extensively in community education and outreach, including leading workshops and training programs covering topics like research and first aid. Through this diverse range of experiences, I’ve developed the ability to tailor my teaching to different learning styles and academic goals.
How I Can Help You Succeed
I know how overwhelming science courses can feel, especially when they’re taught at a fast pace. I love breaking down difficult concepts into clear, manageable pieces, using examples and analogies that make the material memorable. My teaching style is interactive and focused on high-yield strategies, whether you’re preparing for a midterm, final exam, or standardized test like the MCAT. I want to help you not only succeed on your exams but also build confidence in how you learn and approach new material!
