Olá! My name is Isaura but feel free to call me Isa (pronounced "eeza") - nice to meet you! Here are a few things you should know about me:

1) I love learning and teaching, especially engineering, biology, chemistry, and physics. 
2) I couldn't decide which of those subjects I loved most so I decided to study all of them. Together. At the same time.
3) I am obsessed with The Office and a lot of my brain space is occupied with quotes from the show. 
4) I grew up in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and love learning new languages. 

My Education and Credentials

I am currently pursuing an MD/PhD degree at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and am three years into the program. That means I've had to study for and take the MCAT myself and know exactly what students go through when applying to medical school. 

I have been working on a PhD in bioengineering for the past 3 years. In the lab, I use the tools of engineering to design creative solutions to treat blood diseases and cancers. The most important thing I learned in medical school is... don't be afraid to ask questions! Therefore, feel free to ask me anything about my favorite subjects or life in general.

My Teaching Background

I tutored fellow medical students for over two years, and have worked with Wize on MCAT content and LivePrep for the past two years! I have experience tutoring individual students, small groups and giving exam prep lessons to large groups. I am excited to tell you the tips, tricks, and mnemonics that helped me succeed in med school and which concepts are indispensable for understanding the human body and its beautiful complexity!
