What to do the morning of an exam
One of the stressful moments you will face in university are probably the mornings of an exam. You studied, practiced, revised incessantly, and now it’s finally time to give it your all, and evidently, you’ve got to be ready for it.
Those last few hours leading to your evaluation are crucial, not because it’s more time to cram; but more likely the time to prepare yourself mentally and physically to perform adequately. So, here are some tips to help you feel prepared on the morning of your exam.
WAKE UP
If you want to make it to your exam, it’s preliminary for you to get out of your sleep. Set more alarms than usual, and do not be tempted to hit the snooze button!
It would also be helpful to ask a family member or your roommate to check up on you and see if you’re awake, just in case. Once you’re out of bed, stretch a bit so you can also awaken your muscles and body.
Eat a good meal
You’ve probably heard it many times, but breakfast is the most important meal of the day, as it boosts your metabolism and provides you with nutrients that will keep you going through the day. It’s exam day and you need all the energy you can get, so eat healthy.
Food with nutrients and vitamins and that will fuel you up, like cereals, fruits, or yogurts are good. Most importantly, avoid heavy meals, such as greasy or heavy breakfast; you certainly don’t want to risk the chance of having an upset stomach!
Be wise with what you put in your body.
Verify you got everything
Before leaving your place, ensure you have all you need: ID, pencils (and extra pens), erasers, rulers, highlighters, calculators, crib sheets (if allowed). Leave your house only when you’re confident that you have all your supply, including the extra notes or flashcards you want to revise on the way.
And, make sure you noted down the room and time of your exam. Also, dress properly. After all, you’ll be sitting down for hours; make sure you wear clothes that are comfortable, so maybe avoid the jeans and opt for the sweatpants, just for that day of course.
Go to the bathroom and fill up your water bottle
You don’t want to waste any time asking for bathroom privileges in the middle of the exam. Once you get to school, use the restrooms, if you need to; and make sure you fill up your water bottle. You don’t want to risk dehydrating yourself, especially in the middle of your evaluation.
Drinking water is essential for your health, besides, it also helps with memory and attention, so all the more reasons to bring a water bottle!
Hopefully you are ready to write this exam, good luck! Stay calm!
