Why You Should Get a Part Time Job on Campus
So you’ve decided to get a part time job. Now the biggest question is what sort of job should you get?
While there are many options out there, you might want to consider getting a part time job on campus! Although it can seem as if you already spend too much time on campus, getting a part time job on campus has many benefits to it!
You Can Work Around Your Class Schedule
One barrier you may run into when deciding whether or not you want a part time job is deciding whether or not you can take on the extra hours in your day. However, by working at an on-campus position, your employers are understanding of the fact that you are a student first.
Because of this, they’re very accommodating to working around your schedule and making sure you’re able to handle both your part time job and your studies.
This will help you with your time management skills as working on campus makes it easier to balance your classes, social life, and job. In addition, having a part time job on campus is the perfect way to save that extra cash you’re making as you’ll already be on campus for classes.
Get More Involved In Your Campus
Sometimes, it’s so easy to get bogged down with papers and exams that you forget that university is a community. There are thousands of people you’re able to get to know but sometimes it’s hard when you’re caught in a bubble.
Getting a part time job on campus helps you meet and work alongside different kinds of people. Many on-campus jobs involve you interacting with students, professors, TA’s and alumni in different situations.
It’s a great way to get to know more about your campus and create valuable connections on campus! In addition, having a part time job on campus will allow you to contribute more to your student body. While the work you’re doing might seem minimal on such a large campus, every little bit of work helps to keep the university running smoothly and creating a positive university community!
Learn New Skills
While the obvious perk of having a part time job is making some extra money, part time jobs are also a great way to begin learning practical skills that will help you in the workforce.
When you think about part time jobs on campus, you tend to think about jobs such as working in the library, serving at your on campus restaurant or doing checkout at your bookstore. While customer service is incredibly important, it’s not always for everyone.
It’s important to remember there are many more part time jobs then just that. Many universities have paid roles that go beyond all of that. Student council positions tend to come with a paid wage, if you’re interested in learning more about student governments and politics.
Universities tend to have many opportunities for athletic students as well either working at the school gym or sports camps.
Or you can help your fellow students by working as a teacher’s assistant! Check out your school’s job board to look for a variety of different on campus opportunities.
