Words to Know Before University Course Selection
Course selection is the first step to setting yourself up for success in the upcoming semester. Whether this is your first time selecting courses, or you’ve done this before, it can be confusing and you might not know where to start.
Most Universities offer course selection in June and July so take the first step in understanding each type of course requirement before the big day.
The Lingo
Compulsory Course
These are specific courses in your discipline that you must complete in order to graduate.
Prerequisite Course
This is a course that students are required to complete before taking another course.
Optional Course
Courses that must be selected from a set list of courses.
Elective Course
This course is chosen as a personal preference and is not required for your University degree
