Passive vs Active Voice
Passive voice refers to a sentence construction where the verb achieves its end through a grammatical construction wherein it is not acted upon by a clear subject.
Example: "The car was crashed into the sidewalk" versus "I crashed my car into the sidewalk."
The impact of passive voice construction can be to hide the agency of the subject that is, in fact, responsible for the actions therein.
Exam Tip
Active voice is preferred for academic writing to showcase the agency of you, the author.
