Making Financial Decisions (Under Construction)

Practice: Buying a phone

Robbie is helping his little sister, Kate, choose her first phone. They decided that the new K-phone would be most appropriate for Kate. Here are the different K-phone deals Robbie and Kate have found through research:
  • Plan A:
  • The new K-phone costs $750 + taxes (13%)
  • A monthly phone plan with unlimited text and call + 10GB of data is $50/month (taxes included)
  • Plan B:
  • A monthly phone plan with unlimited text and call + 10GB of data is $80/month (taxes included)
  • If you commit to this plan for 3 years, you get a brand new K-phone at no additional cost. After that, you can switch phone plans if you'd like

a) Create an algebraic expression that represents the cost of a new K-phone and nn months of phone plan A.

b) Create an algebraic expression that represents the cost of a new K-phone and nn months of phone plan B.
