Genetic Engineering - using molecular biology to duplicate and modify the structures of genes
Recombinant DNA procedures use enzymes to cut DNA into pieces and combine them with other DNA segments. These modified DNA segments then divide and produce many copies.
Human growth hormone used for therapeutic procedures is produced using recombinant DNA procedures.
Knockout procedure - a particular function of a gene is eliminated in order to observe effects on behaviour. Usually done in mice.
