Monocular cues for depth only require one eye. They're the same cues we use in visual art to give dimension to 2D pictures

Binocular Cues

Binocular cues use both eyes to calculate distance and depth.

Retinal (or binocular) disparity - your eyes see slightly different images. The more different these images are, the closer the object is.

Convergence - in order to keep a near object in focus, your eyes need to converge (come together). In order to keep a distant object in focus, your eyes need to diverge (move apart). Your brain uses the movement of the muscles around your eyes to calculate how far away an object is.
