Segmented Bar Chart (or Stacked Columns)
A segmented bar chart are used to compare two or more categories by using vertical or horizontal bars.
- Typically, the stacked bars show the percentage-of-the-whole of each group and are plotted by the percentage of each value within each group.
- This allows us to easily compare relative differences in the distribution of values of each category.
- Since all the stacked bars add up to 100%, we do not know the frequencies or counts within group by just looking at a segmented bar chart.
- The frequencies may be summarized in a contingency table.
