How To Find Online Math Help For the New Ontario Math and Science Curricula

What’s Changing in the Ontario Math Curriculum?

Ontario’s math and science curricula are changing in September 2022, and the new curricula brings critical changes for highschool students across the province.

The grade 9 de-streaming process will eliminate the division that exists between the Grade 9 Academic Math and the Applied programs, meaning that students will take a brand new Grade 9 de-streaming math course.

Finding math and science help for Ontario students will be more important ever as they navigate these changes.

For those of us who remember the streamed versions of these programs know the challenges that the transition to highschool already brings. In addition to adapting to the post-online learning, a new curricula may challenge even the most confident highschool freshman.

Students from various academic backgrounds, skills, and confidence levels in math will now be placed in a de-streamed Grade 9 Math class that aims to transition students to the highschool math curriculum.

Students making the transition from grade 8 will be filtered from the various elementary and middle schools into their respective highschools all under one grade 9 math curriculum. For parents who are worried about their child falling behind, math help is at hand with Wizeprep.

Wizeprep offers bite-sized videos based on the new Ontario curriculum taught by the world’s best math and science educators.

The quality of math help students receive is critical. Their success in the Grade 9 de-streamed program will determine their confidence for the Grade 10 academic or applied stream, with those pursuing the Grade 10 Academic stream eventually being allowed to continue with the university stream, opening doors to more opportunities.

For students who struggle in Grade 9 Math, without math help, this could shatter their confidence for the future.

What’s Changing in the Ontario Science Curriculum?

The science curriculum is also changing, with an increased focus on STEM, skilled trades, and emerging technologies. Starting in 2022, coding will take a front seat in Ontario’s strategy for educating students about technology, and learning to code from grades 1 to 9 will become mandatory.

An example of this new curriculum, as stated by the Ontario Ministry of Education, is that in Grade 3 students will learn how to program a small robot using coding skills that they develop.

The world is changing, and there’s more emphasis on the combination of technology and education. This makes it easier to fall behind than ever. All of these changes present challenges to students who will need science help to achieve the best marks possible.
