Practice: T-shirt cannon
At football games, sometimes, there is a "T-shirt cannon" that is used to fire T-shirts into the audience, to be given to avid fans as souvenirs. In this problem, assume the flying T-shirts encounter no air resistance, and move like normal projectiles.
A T-shirt is launched with an initial velocity of .
(Choose the direction of motion as positive; upward for y-direction, and in the direction of the T-shirt's motion for x-direction.)
a) Write down the acceleration vector for the launched T-shirt in terms of unit vectors.
b) What is the velocity vector after 2.0 seconds? (Assume it does not yet land or hit any obstacles in this time period.)
c) Will a spectator positioned at be able to catch the t-shirt? (Treat the position of the cannon as the origin, x=0 and y=0). Show your work.
