Spelling and Authority as a Writer
If as a writer for school, you want to present yourself as a trusted master over the content, one way to communicate that is to produce work that is free from spelling errors.
There are two things to remember here: consistency and spell check.
- Consistency refers to choosing a particular geographical spelling convention and sticking to it (i.e. US/UK).
- Spell check refers to proofreading your work before submission.

Spell Checking
Spell checking can be done with a variety of online tools these days.
- For words that you are unsure of, it's easy to do a quick google search to check the spelling.
- Often reading a piece of text out loud will help you to locate incorrect spelling as well as awkward phrasings that seem okay on the page, but sound jarring when read out loud.
Wize Tip
Not using a spell checker is seen to be especially lazy!
