Heritability

Heritability - the degree to which the variability of a particular trait in a particular population is a result of genetic influence among those organisms.

A heritability coefficient of 1.00 means all of the variability in a particular trait is due to genetics. A heritability coefficient of 0.00 means none of the variability is due to genetics.

Watch Out!
Heredity is only a useful number on a population level - it does not allow us to predict anything about a particular person

Some traits, like height and intelligence, are more heritable than others, like personality or school achievement.
