Levels of Processing

Levels of Processing - the deeper a word is processed at the time of encoding, the better it will be remembered.
Levels of processing was identified by Craik & Lockhart. They had participants study words by answering questions about them. The deeper the processing required by the question, the better participants' memory for the words.
We can use levels of processing to make our studying more efficient by using deeper forms of encoding that focus on the meaning of new terms.
Practice: Levels of Processing
According to the levels of processing view, _________ encoding emphasizes the sound of a word
