The Hindbrain & Midbrain

Ask your instructor if you need to be able to locate the structures of the brain on a diagram, or if knowing their general location and functions is sufficient for your course.
The hindbrain consists of:
- Pons: helps to relay motor information from higher brain to the cerebellum.
- Medulla: regulation of cardiovascular and respiratory functions.
- Cerebellum: coordination and planning of movement.

The midbrain is located above the hindbrain, and is involved in integration of sensory information, release of dopamine, and some reflexive behaviours.
