Med & Dental School Requirements and Deadlines by School
Jun 30, 2026
Last updated: June 2026. Deadlines reflect the 2026-2027 application cycle where confirmed. A small number of tuition and cost figures are the most recent published values from the 2024-2025 or 2025-2026 year and are labeled as such. Cycle years vary by school, so confirm final requirements, deadlines, and costs with each school before submitting.
What does this guide cover?
This guide is a school-by-school reference for pre-med and pre-dental students comparing application requirements and deadlines across the United States and Canada. It compiles values from official admissions pages and published admissions references, and reports only values confirmed in those sources.
Where a school does not publish a requirement, deadline, fee, or eligibility field in the atlas, the guide says "not reported."
Use this as the requirements-focused sibling to Wizeprep's guide to what MCAT and DAT score you need for each school. The score article helps you judge academic range. This guide helps you check whether each school fits your application service, test requirements, residency status, international status, secondary timeline, and mission fit.
How should you use application requirements and deadline data?
Start with the application service. AMCAS is the primary service for most MD programs, AACOMAS is the primary service for most DO programs, TMDSAS is used by many Texas programs, and AADSAS is the main application service for dental schools. A school's primary service determines where you submit the first application, transcripts, activities, essays, and school selections.
Next, check situational judgment tests. CASPer is a separate assessment some schools require as part of the admissions process. AAMC PREview is an AAMC situational judgment exam used by a subset of medical schools. A required test should go on your calendar early, because a missing score can delay review even when the rest of your file is complete.
Then compare primary and secondary deadlines. The primary application is the centralized application through AMCAS, AACOMAS, TMDSAS, or AADSAS. A secondary application is the school-specific follow-up, often with extra essays and a fee. Rolling admissions can make early completion more valuable because schools may review files and issue interviews before the final deadline.
Finally, check eligibility. International applicants and out-of-state applicants are not treated the same way at every school. Some schools consider both broadly, some limit review by citizenship or residency, and some report no public policy in the atlas. Pair those rules with mission focus so your list reflects where your background, goals, and timeline actually match.
Application requirement benchmarks from this dataset
Across the 217 MD and DO schools in this guide, 53 require CASPer (with Tulane University School of Medicine listing it as optional), and 22 of the 184 schools with reported AAMC PREview data require PREview.
For medical applicant eligibility, 67 of the 200 MD and DO schools with reported data consider international applicants. TMDSAS appears in the application service field for 14 medical schools in the atlas.
Application services in the full atlas break down as follows among schools with reported service data: AMCAS 143, AACOMAS 43, TMDSAS 17 (14 medical, 3 dental: Woody L. Hunt at TTUHSC El Paso, UT Health San Antonio, and UT Houston), AADSAS 65, and TMDSAS/AADSAS 1 (Texas A&M College of Dentistry, which uses TMDSAS for Texas residents and AADSAS for out-of-state applicants). A fourth Texas dental school, Texas A&M, therefore touches TMDSAS but is counted in the combined TMDSAS/AADSAS category rather than the pure TMDSAS total.
For dental schools, AADSAS appears in the application service field for 65 of the 78 DDS and DMD schools, including schools that list AADSAS alongside TMDSAS. 52 of the 78 dental schools with reported international-applicant data consider international applicants.
Secondary applications are reported as required for 166 of the 186 schools with reported secondary data. Rolling admissions is reported as yes for 225 of the 252 schools with reported rolling-admissions data.

AADSAS is the main centralized application service for dental schools. In this atlas, AADSAS appears in the application service field for 65 of the 78 DDS and DMD schools, including schools that list it alongside TMDSAS.
Do dental schools consider international applicants?
Yes, many do. In this dataset, 52 of the 78 DDS and DMD schools with reported international-applicant data consider international applicants.
Do I need to submit secondary applications?
Often, but the atlas does not report a secondary requirement for every school. Across all schools, 166 of the 186 schools with reported secondary data are marked as requiring a secondary application.
What does rolling admissions mean for my timeline?
Rolling admissions means a school may review completed applications before the final deadline. In this atlas, 225 of the 252 schools with reported rolling-admissions data are marked yes, so early completion can matter even when the official deadline is later.
What should I do when a requirement says not reported?
Treat not reported as a research flag, not as permission to skip the item. It means the staged atlas did not contain a usable value for that field, so applicants should confirm the current requirement on the school's official admissions page before submitting.
Are primary application deadlines the same as secondary deadlines?
No. The primary deadline belongs to the centralized application service or the school's primary application process. The secondary deadline is school-specific and may come later, but a late primary can still leave too little time to complete the secondary well.
Methodology and sources
This guide compiles published official admissions pages, MSAR and AAMC-style references, ADEA-style references, and other verified admissions notes. Cycle years vary by school, and a deadline shown for one cycle may not be the final deadline for a later cycle.
Values were cleaned for display only. Markdown citations and source URLs embedded in cells were removed so the requirement itself is readable. If a value was blank, marked unknown, marked N/A, or not applicable to that program type, the article says "not reported." Some tuition and cost-of-attendance figures reflect the most recent published year available (2024-2025 or 2025-2026) and are labeled with that year; schools update these annually, so verify current costs directly with each school. This guide is a reference for school-list research, not a guarantee of admission, eligibility, interview invitation, or final admissions outcome.
