U of C Best Eats

U of C Best Eats

1. Bake Chef

Bake Chef is without a doubt a U of C student favourite. All of their subs are incredible, but their $7 Viet sub is guaranteed to hit the spot and fill you right up. Looking for a cheaper option? A stuffed bun and muffin adds up to only $4.50. Watch out though, these subs will have you coming back every week...maybe more.

2. Brew and Blendz

With two locations on campus and being Rez meal plan friendly, Brew and Blendz is the #1 spot for first years to grab a coffee/tea and freshly made snacks. Do you like smoothies? Cause they have those as well. Just to top it off, Brew and Blendz was started right in Calgary, so you can feel good supporting a homegrown business!

3. Korean BBQ House

If you are looking for a Michelin Star quality experience, this may not be your place. On the other hand, if you have been searching for the best bang-for-your-buck on campus, you may have found what you are looking for. Fan favourites include BBQ beef, glass noodles, and spicy dark chicken rice. If you’ve got a big appetite, you’re in luck to get full. If you’ve got a small appetite, you’re looking at 2-3 meals for the price of one!

4. Tim Hortons

No glitz, no glamour, just your old friend Timmy’s. There is no surprises here, everybody has their go-to money saver order - everything bagel with cream cheese? Large coffee and a muffin? Crispy chicken combo? Don’t feel the need to be above Tim’s, it will adequately satisfy those taste buds without breaking the bank.

5. OPA!

There is something particularly refreshing about Greek food. I’m not sure whether it’s the cucumber-citrus zest of tzatziki, the flavour explosion of Greek salad, or the savoury punch of Greek meats....damn, now I want Greek food. Don’t resist your temptations - give OPA! a try.

6. Fuel for Gold

This is your token healthy option... that also happens to be absolutely delicious. Their menu is designed for athletes, which means and average joe like me knows that I’m getting a well-balanced meal. Their prices range from about $8.50-$10.50, but for that price you will get filled with (here it comes) “fuel for gold.” Additionally, all proceeds go directly towards funding athletes and coaches at the Canadian Sport Institute of Calgary. Give it a shot.
