U of T’s Best Study Spots

Late nights, early mornings, non-stop reading, and endless studying. Sound familiar? That’s because it’s that time of year again! You guessed it - exam time.

So, you’ll need somewhere quiet to go. But, this can be hard. Especially given how big (and noisy!) the city can be.

This year we got you covered. Below are the top 5 study spots around the St. George campus.

Have you ever dreamed of attending Hogwarts? Well, now you can live out this fantasy! Hidden within the Victoria College campus, is the Emmanuel College Library. Here is where the architecture mimics the look of Hogwarts.

The building is outfitted with wrought iron details, stunning wood desks, fireplaces, comfy leather chairs, and plenty of natural light. But, be careful! The space is small so you might not get a seat. Head in early to guarantee yours for the day.

A classic study spot is Robarts. And, you’ll either love it or hate it! As the main humanities and social sciences library, the building is absolutely ginormous. There are a number of floors, desks, reading rooms, and private study spots for you to explore.

Plus, night owls rejoice! During exam periods’ the library switches to extended hours. Allowing students access (to designated floors) 24/7.
If that’s not enough to convince you, there's also plenty of food and coffee at the cafeteria. Bu,t for hardcore comfort food, head outside the main doors! Here you’ll find a lineup of food trucks offering cheap, delicious, and hearty meals!

If you feel uninspired sitting inside all day, try studying at the UC Quad. The quad is a ginormous green space filled with plenty of trees, grass, and benches. But, it likely won’t be ideal in the colder months. So try to make the most of it in the spring!

A hidden gem for studying is OISE Hall. OISE has a number of floors filled with long tables with plenty of seating. Plus, there is a library and study rooms (that can be rented). Best of all – this building is connected directly to St. George station. So, if you don’t feel like walking far (or you’re getting sick of snow) simply take the OISE exit and you’ll end up right in the building! Talk about convenience.

Another great study spot is the Hart House Library. Located in the middle of campus, Hart House offers students a more social atmosphere to hunker down. Thanks to the stunning architecture, you’ll likely find it cozy. And the building is filled with plenty of amenities.

There is a gym (which students have free access to!), food hall, and activities offered throughout the building. So, once you have a spot there is no need to leave for the day!

Happy studying!
