Best McGill Study Spots
When exam season is in full swing, study real estate is at a premium. Libraries are packed with students and coffee shops are unimaginably busy. Our team at Wizeprep understands the struggle and we've gathered some insider knowledge on how to alleviate the problem.

1. Blackader Library
Few McGill students have ever heard of the Blackadder Library and relegate themselves solely to McLennan and Redpath. Take advantage of this space and head upstairs from
2. The Redpath Library
Ya, that’s right…upstairs. There you will find enough tables to seat 100 students and endless rows of research material.
3. Islamic Studies Library
Here is another example of an unknown quiet haven. Most students walk right past this intimidating building without ever even examining its rich contents. Here you will find dozens of seats and the incredible octagon room. If inspiration is what you seek, head inside.
4. Nahum Gelber Law Library
This incredibly serious environment is renowned for its silence and majestic decor. If you can handle deafening silence, then this is the place for you.
5. Education Library
If climbing McTavish isn’t a struggle for you, then the Education Library is a realistic option. As most Education students have take-home finals or internship requirements to fulfill, their library is often empty. The Education Library isn’t the largest of rooms, but there is seating sprinkled on every floor of the building, which is a great alternative.
6. Thomson House
While this modest McGill eatery is reserved for grad students, it has plenty of seating and a tasty menu to boot. No one is there checking student IDs so just go in and look like you know what you’re doing.
7. The Brown Building
This modern glass building facing Leacock is another unknown study spot. It is home to the Career Planning Service (CAPS), which has its own small study space opened to all. Alternatively, there is seating throughout this incredibly quiet building.
8. Java U on Sherbrooke and Union
This is another great example of a large location close to campus. While on the pricier side, this Java U has many large tables and unlimited Wi-Fi.
9. Gare Central
This might be a first - if you have never taken the train to McGill, but Gare Central is perfect for students. While this recommendation is best suited for after the lunch rush, the food court is spacious and comfortable, and the eateries are top-notch. With free Wi-Fi offered at most shops, you won’t ever have a problem.
10. A&W on Boul. Robert Bourassa and President Kennedy
If all else fails, the upstairs seating area in this restaurant is very large and fairly quiet. Also, incredibly close to campus, this A&W offers the space you need, Wi-Fi you can trust, and a meal or two when you get the munchies.
