McGill Student Life Hacks
- Always carry around Tupperware for samosa sales. Carrying 3 samosas dripping in sauce whilst racing to get to class isn’t fun. Indulge in the 3 for $2 deal and save some samosas for later!
- On Fridays, the cafe near Leacock sells bagels for $2 (they won’t be the freshest but are good for the frugal student!)
- If you don’t already know, Provigo gives a student discount Mon-Wed!
- @freshmen: Leacock 132 has a door behind the podium which is socially acceptable to use even though it might seem intimidating (don’t contribute to the main door crowding!)
- Worried about getting your coat/keys lanyard/jewelry stolen or lost? Drop everything right now and take photos of all your valuables and upload them to your laptop and phone so that if you lose them, you can post clear photos of the thing you lost!
- Speaking of, “I lost my keys, they’re on a McGill lanyard” is the saddest post ever. We know school pride is important, but if you want to increase the likelihood of finding your lanyard, try to have one that doesn’t look like one that literally everyone has.
- Want to save a bunch of money on household items, clothes, and of course, textbooks? Join every McGill-related Facebook Free and For-Sale group you can find — bonus points if you turn on notifications for every post to never miss something you’re looking for!
- Stressed about not knowing what or where your class’ building is? Consult this handy lil' sheet . Every building is on google maps so don’t stress!
- Feeling bummed about not getting the grades you want? TALK TO YOUR PROF OR TA in person!!
- Professors are more likely to give you good grades if they see that you care enough to meet up in person and will be able to familiarize themselves with your academic improvement
- It’s always easier to get something explained in person instead of feeling like you have to have a concept fully grasped at the end of a one-hour lecture.
10. Still not getting the grades you want? Maybe you should check out this rad online tutoring service
called Wize... ;). Every building is on google maps so don’t stress
