UVIC Best Eats

1. Mystic Market

“Mystic” is an open-concept market-style eatery with 10 different food stations, including Berries (smoothies), Chopbox (Asian fusion), Fresco (tacos, quesadillas, etc.), Tofinos (pasta) and many more.

Most UVIC students know about this spot, but what you may not know is that Mystic is the first zero-waste facility on the UVIC campus. Now, every time you go there, you can enjoy your meal AND smile knowing that you’re helpin’ out mother earth :).

2. Village Greens

If you’re feeling like breaking away from regular caf food for something a little more healthy, Village Greens is a good option. They have tasty vegetarian and vegan options served daily, as well as homemade soups and chilis. Our favs are the stir fry and any of their smoothies! Gotta get those vitamins and minerals.

3. Dominos (Shelbourne Location)

Total turnaround from “healthy” here, but I feel obliged to share some information: if you are able to pick up from the store, Dominos is 50% off on Mondays. All you will need to do is order online using the discount code 8545. Let the massive Monday Dominos orders begin!

4. Pizzeria Prima Strada

If you polled Victorians on the best pizza in town, this place would be the winner. They serve authentic wood-fire oven pizza, delicious gelato, and a variety of appetizers. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, but our favourites are the Funghi Supremo and the Pollo Alla Panna e pancetta. If you’re into pizza with a little more to it than Dom’s, make sure to give this place a go.

5. The Mint

This downtown spot is well known for being open late (2 am), having delicious Asian-fusion cuisine, and a great drink menu (for any 19+ readers). Make sure to check their features and happy hour menus for weekly specials. They will also occasionally host live music events - what could be better than excellent food and live music? If you want a trendy, busy, young vibe check this place out.

6. Pho Vy

This modest downtown joint has the best pho in all of Victoria. Be aware, it may get a little cramped in there because word has got out that their pho is prime, but the food absolutely will not disappoint. Our favs are the Bo Bun Hue (#18) and the Pho Veggie (#51). If you’re a Pho person don’t miss this spot!
