Hypnosis

Hypnosis - state of relaxation, focused attention, and willingness to give up control over your actions. Cannot make you do things you are otherwise incapable of or strongly object to.
Hypnosis is characterized by reduced peripheral awareness - we narrow our focus onto a singular stimulus. This results in an increased susceptibility to suggestion.
Hypnotherapy has been shown to be somewhat effective in treating acute and chronic pain. Hypnotherapy uses relaxation, motivation, suggestion, and expectancies to create a change in behaviour or emotional states.
