Latent Learning

Latent learning is learning that is not demonstrated until there is an incentive to do so.

Example: You ride the bus to and from campus every day, but don't pay a lot of attention to what's going on outside the bus - your stop is the last on the route so you don't need to be paying attention. One day someone asks you where the Star Bakery is and you know where it is along the route, even though you weren't aware of it at the time you were learning.
