Each hemisphere primarily controls and receives sensory input from the opposite side of the body. The corpus callosum connects the two hemispheres of your brain, allowing them to communicate with each other.

Hemispheric Lateralization

Left hemisphere is dominant for:
  • Language production and comprehension
  • Selective attention
  • Positive emotions
Right hemisphere is dominant for:
  • Nonverbal processing
  • Spatial tasks
  • Music
  • Visual Recognition



Women tend to have fewer differences between left and right hemispheres than men.
