Dementias

Dementia is a broad term used to refer to an umbrella of declining cognitive symptoms that include impairments in memory, functioning, judgement, mood, and communication

It occurs most often in older individuals, however it can also be caused by neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and Huntington's disease

People with dementia may have difficulty remembering recent memories, events, and conversations, however their ability to remember things from earlier in their life is often unaffected
