How to Get the Most Out of Your Wizeprep Course
Jumping straight into university can be scary; there are so many variables that you’re unsure of and you may feel like you aren’t ready. What are classes like? How do you talk to a professor? How will your grades translate in university? How can you feel ready?
That’s where study tools can come in handy - like Wize!
For those who aren't familiar with Wizeprep yet, here are the top 10 tips to navigate your Wizeprep course like a pro.
1. Check Your Tech
Whether you’re at school, at home, or at a cafe, make sure you have a strong internet connection. A reliable and fast internet connection really goes a long way to ensure the videos play smoothly and without constant buffering.
Also, using Google Chrome as the browser is recommended for the best experience on the Wizeprep platform.
2. Familiarize Yourself with the Wizeprep Platform
After logging into Wizeprep and clicking into your course, check out your student dashboard. Click around for both live and on-demand sessions.
Find any and all courses that you might be taking on the Wizeprep platform. Search according to your course codes.
3. Check out the Course Booklet
This specifically refers to our live offerings. You can also download the course notes for the on-demand course help, but if you buy a live session, the course booklet will be your best friend.
The course booklet has ALL your course content displayed in one easy-to-read and organized study guide.
4. Watch Videos and Start Learning!
The unique thing about the Wizeprep platform is your ability to customize and tailor your lesson to your own individual learning preferences. Each chapter is further broken down into segments, with each individual concept and example question having its own short video.
You are not restricted to watching the videos in order or even watching all the videos. Simply click on a topic you do not feel fully confident about, and rewatch the video as many times as needed to fully grasp and master the concept.
5. Try to Attempt all of the Practice Problems and Quizzes!
Practice problems test your grasp on a certain concept, where quizzes show your understanding of the overall chapter. When doing the practice problems, try it yourself first and avoid looking at the solution.
If unsuccessful or still puzzled after clicking on “show solution”, click on “show video” to let the instructor give you a step-by-step breakdown. For questions you were stuck on, it is a good strategy to make note of it or copy it down so it will be easy to reference and practice again in the future.
With an overview of your weaker areas, it might be useful to rewatch the particular video covering the concept or to refer to the notes. The day or a couple of days before the midterm, be sure to attempt the questions one last time (or quizzes) to make sure you have a good grasp on the concept!
6. Use the Q&A or Chat Feature to get Clarification
If you are still confused after watching the video, don’t hesitate to click on “Ask a Question” and post it. If you want to remain anonymous, there is the option to post the question anonymously too.
Be sure to take advantage of the Q&A and chat feature. Asking the instructor directly and receiving clarification is a great tool and study resource.
7. Put Yourself in an Exam-Like Scenario with the Wizeprep Mock Exam
After watching the videos and going through the practice problems and quizzes, the last step is to do a chapter quiz or Wizeprep Mock Exam.
With multiple-choice questions, written questions, and a timer on the top corner, the mock exam mimics and prepares you for the real exam.
With the questions touching upon all the chapters, the mock exam gauges your overall understanding of the material and your retention from learning through the theory and quizzes.
8. Look at Materials either Before or After Class
Students often use Wizeprep course resources in one of two ways: (1) before class to help get oriented for the hard subjects the prof is going to discuss in class or (2) right after class when the ideas and concepts are still fresh.
Obviously, Wizeprep is super duper helpful for preparing for tests and exams, but watching quick videos as part of regular class performance can help get the ideas lodged in your brain well before test time.
9. Check out Course Materials in Advance
The Wizeprep platform has thousands of course resources (literally), so you can check out the course materials for courses before you register for them. If you’re worried about a particular course next semester, why not quickly scroll through the notes and videos on Wizeprep first before registering? You can then feel confident once you register for the course that you’ll be set with the study resources to help you get your best grade ever.
Use the “search” function at the top left of any course once you are in and looking at the course materials to find out what resources we have for any given topic. You can then know exactly what you can get help with.
10. Read Through the Various Free Resources for Additional Help
Wizeprep is a study platform that helps students get better grades and reduce study time, but it’s also a library of resources that every college student can find helpful. Our instructors and guest bloggers have collected and created a whole bunch of helpful resources designed to help students just like you.
At no cost you can scroll through the “Free Resources” and search things that will help you have the most successful college experience you can imagine (and maybe even better than you imagine!).
